Connie Freeman Biography

“My passion in life is to walk alongside people who are willing to embrace the lost and broken parts of themselves and dream about what could be. I have seen this happen in profound ways as groups come together and form authentic community. Though I love “the church,” for too long we have created buildings with people in them who do not feel safe telling the truth about their pain and their fears. It is by embracing those fears, yours and mine, that we will all experience the true grace of God.” Connie Freeman

Connie Freeman is passionate about helping people. She is an engaging speaker, a strong leader and a gifted facilitator.

Ordained as a Minister in 1992, she graduated from Baylor University and later attended Southwestern Seminary. She began serving in ministry as a Youth Pastor in 1977. In 1990, Connie joined the staff of Fellowship Bible Church Dallas and served in various capacities during her sixteen year tenure. Initially, she was Missions Pastor and Women’s Pastor.

During her time as Fellowship’s Missions Pastor, she led teams to the former Soviet Union, Europe and Mexico. It was during one of her mission trips in Mexico, visiting an orphanage; she made a life changing decision. Connie followed her heart and adopted two children from the Mexican orphanage and has been a parent to them since 1992.

During August of 1995, Connie recognized and acted on her passion to help encourage others to learn how to leave judgments behind and experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ, regardless of their past or present situation. The Barnabas Journey was founded and was a Ministry of Fellowship Bible church until December 2006.

In January of 2007, she organized an all-volunteer staff to begin the development of Barnabas as a non-profit organization. As an independent ministry her prayer is that the effect of Barnabas can reach beyond the church walls and bring authentic community and grace to people in all walks of life.

Most recently, she has earned her certification as a Life Coach and is beginning her coursework to obtain a certification in Spiritual Direction.

The Barnabas Journey and Connie’s mission in life is “to create a safe and honest environment for life change where people can evaluate their behavior patterns and beliefs in the context of God’s unconditional love and grace.”
