Mission, Vision and Values

Our Mission:

To create a safe and honest environment for life change where people can evaluate their behavior patterns and beliefs in the context of God’s unconditional love and grace.

Our Vision:

The Barnabas Journey seeks to address internal motivations rather than external conformity and truth without judgments.   We seek to create an environment of authenticity and honesty, recognizing our brokenness and acknowledging our pain… and thereby experiencing intimate community, growth and healing.  Our hope is that all will experience and then be able to model the relentless tenderness and grace of God.

Our Values:  These values are applicable to leaders and participants.

  • Grace – Meeting others on their journey without judgments
  • Love – Compassionate encounter with others in community
  • Truth – Honest dialogue with others as well as a commitment to pursue and acknowledge truth about our self
  • Humility – Model the humility and respect that Jesus demonstrated toward others as he served them.
  • Courage – Boldly stepping out of our comfort zones
  • Hope – Providing an environment for people to experience the God of second chances.
  • Welcoming – All are welcome.  We will not discriminate based on race, religion, culture, gender, sexual orientation or financial status.

Barnabas Journey Founder, Connie Freeman

Since 1995, I have had the privilege of watching men and women make courageous choices to create something different in their lives. Some have entered Barnabas feeling as though this is their last chance to change. Others come because they are curious or because they know someone else who has been impacted by Barnabas.

Wherever you are coming from, you will be welcomed and challenged to take a fresh look at your life, and see the truth about who you are. Most of us have believed lies about ourselves for years. Lies like: “I’m not good enough,” “It’s too late for me,” “How could God forgive me?” or simply “Maybe this is as good as it gets….” These lies are keeping us captive to a life that is valuable in God’s eyes.

Barnabas is a big investment of your time, your money and your heart. Your future is worth the effort. Come join us on the Journey, and see how the grace of God and the love of people can be a life-defining event and the beginning of real peace and freedom.
